About Us

Marta & Her New Adventure

I have always loved dancing. I started dancing in kindergarten and danced  at  every single  showcase and event through middle school. When I moved from El Salvador to the U.S. in 2001, I wanted to join  a dance academy;  however, my father said that dance would take me nowhere. So, when I started high school, I enrolled in my school’s dance classes. My dance teacher and mentor, Debbie Feinberg, was the first person to see my potential, love, and passion for dancing. I danced my way through high school and joined my school’s Modern Dance Theater team. During  my senior year, I was one of the co-captains of the dance team.

I tried my first Zumba class in 2011; I immediately fell in love with the format  because it was a combination of Latin dance, fun, and fitness. I hated going to the gym because it was boring, but Zumba was different. It was something that I look forward to every day; I couldn’t  wait for my Zumba class. The thing that made the class so much fun was the instructor. The instructors had so much energy, enthusiasm, and loved what they were doing. In 2012, I decided to become a Zumba instructor mostly because I just loved the workout, but after 5 years of teaching, I have learned that  Zumba is more than a fitness class. It’s a way to bring happiness to someone for one hour a day. Many of the incredible  people who come to my classes  are cancer survivors or are grieving the loss of a loved one. For me, Zumba is not just a workout, it’s a way to brighten someone’s day and the participants of my classes do the same for me. When I have a bad day or don’t feel well, the energy and love of the participants immediately makes me feel better. Through my 5 years of Zumba teaching experience, I have worked for L.A. Fitness International, Town Sports International a.ka. Washington Sports Clubs, YMCA, and Sport & Health.

I created Smile,  Fun & Sweat LLC because I wanted people to enjoy the benefits of a Zumba class at an affordable price. No membership, no commitment, only a high intensity fun workout! When you come to my class there are three rules: 1) Smile, 2) Have Fun and  3) Sweat! I hope that you will join me in my new journey :)
